I began reading my Nana's Vogue Magazine as early as I could flip through the pages. My Aunt Sharon put luscious face creams purchased at Neimans on me by the age of 5. I fell in love with all things beauty very early and my love was solidified with a Beauty Therapy and Esthetics Diploma by The Oxford International College of Beauty in Oxford, England in 2003. I continue to cultivate my beauty knowledge everyday at my salon and day spas, still flipping through the pages of Vogue and trying any product, fitness craze, or fashion trend I can get my hands on. I can't wait to tell you all about it!

Spinning is good for the Bootie!

I have heard of spinning and not being a fan of cardio it never interested me. That is until I found out it burns about 500 calories in an hour and I thought with my limited time for excercise this could get me fit for summer. I tend to put weight on like most women in the stomach, butt and thighs. Spinning targets those areas as well as fat burning cardio for a healthy heart and makes you sweat which is always important for detoxification. This is all done on a stationary bike which allows you to adjust the resistance dependent on skill level. Ashley, my super fit and adorable instructor, welcomed me and showed me how to adjust my bike. She made me feel very comfortable, the adjustments were simple and in minutes I was spinning away. In my class of about 10 men and women we listened to great music blaring and watched Edward Scissor hands simultaneously. The first 30 minutes all that was going through my head was, "I gotta get the hell out of here". Ashley had us sitting, standing, and a half sit called "hovering". Holy crap I was feeling the burn!!! My legs felt like my knees would buckle and I started sweating. I hate sweating! The last 30 minutes I actually started to enjoy myself. My muscles warmed up, my legs felt stronger and I enjoyed the challenge of keeping up with the others. At the end we dismounted our bikes and I knew that I would be incredibly sore tomorrow. But, I think that doing this hardcore workout twice a week along with not eating like a cow, I will be well on my way to being bathing suit ready for summer. M+ Yoga (www.yogamaggie.com) offers Power Yoga and Spinning almost all days of the week and is located in Wilshire Village in Nichols Hills. You should try it!
